What causes sudden bleeding gums?

My boyfriend (19 years old) has suddenly started bleeding a lot from his gums when he brushes. He has not changed toothbrushes and said he doesn’t brush too hard. I’m scared cause I read this could be a sign of leukemia. Is this true? What else could it be?

why is she having Bleeding gums?

My mom had surgery last week on her ankle and recently has begun to have bleeding gums. She says it’s quite frequent and obviously annoying. Her medications are Oxycontin, oxycodone and promethazine. Does anyone know if these could cause bleeding of the gums? Are they blood thinners? Any tips would be helpful. She’s going to call the doctor tomorrow, but she would like to know if it’s due to medication.

My husband and I have been TTC for 7 months now, this month we have been intimate every other day and praying that we have done it this time. I am not due for my period until the end of this month (next week), and the last 2 nights my gums have bled a little. I brush and floss regularly and thought this was odd. I googled the symptom and found that others who were 3 and 4 weeks pregnant have had the same issue. Has anyone else experienced this early on in pregnancy or know anything about it ?

Some big news in the field of Dentistry is that the FDA Approves A New Oral Appliance For Treating Sleep Apnea.  The device has the potential of treating OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) effectively with much less cost for the patient who suffers.

The two companies that have partnered in the manufacturing of this new oral device are Respire Medical and Gergen’s Orthodontic Labs and have just gotten Medicare approval and FDA approval for the device.  Here is an excerpt from the original article which appeared in PR Web where the FDA Approves A New Oral Appliance For Treating Sleep Apnea.

You can see the entire article here.

Gone are the days of an unaffordable oral appliance used to treat the deadly disorder Sleep Apnea. With over 18 million Americans affected by Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), it was only a matter of time the market demanded an affordable and effective oral appliance to treat sleep apnea. Respire Medical, a Brooklyn based oral appliance company teamed up with Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab to provide a significantly less expensive solution to the worlds Sleep Apnea sufferers. Dentists can now attend a dental continuing education course offered by Sleep Group Solutions to learn more the Respire Blue Series and offer an affordable option.

“As we continue to grow we would like to welcome all of our new clients and wish them much success in their treatment of OSA with our Respire devices.” says David Walton, co-creator of the Respire Blue Series. “Now that we have been added to the list of Medicare approved devices by the PDAC board, our Respire Blue Series device is available to more people.” With a price point that’s affordable, Respire Medical offers the best value for money across the market, hands down.

FDA clearance was big step for Respire Medical, not only does it verify the device is safe, but also that it is effective. This FDA clearance also provides peace of mind to many patients. David Walton and co-creator Walid Raad have been training Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab in Arizona to manufacture the device. Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab is the first licensed lab that can make the Respire device. “This new partnership has been a win for both partners. Respire and Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab will be able to offer a much needed option for patients with sleep apnea.” adds David Gergen owner of Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab.

Now that the FDA Approves A New Oral Appliance For Treating Sleep Apnea, many people who previously could not find an affordable solution to the common problem of OSA can not have hope.  There is also a dental education course offered by Sleep Group Solutions or through Respire Medical.

To learn more about the Respire Blue Series, attend a dental continuing education course offered by Sleep Group Solutions, or contact Respire Medical directly. To find a dental clinic trained in the Respire device, log onto Sleeptest.com.

I think this is a big step in the right direction in treating Sleep Apnea, which affects millions of people each year and many of those could not afford to pay for the equipment that was used to treat the illness.
