Yes just let them knovv that you are pregnant. Its actually good to go to the dentist vvhile your pregnant, pregnancy can actually be harder on your teeth because of extra calcium and your hormones.
Recently it’s been said that you shouldn’t have dental "work" done while you are pregnant. I think a routine teeth cleaning is fine but just talk to your obgyn to be on the safe side.
Good luck and congrats!
Sure…they are very careful with women in delicate situations. Tell them when you make the appointment and remind them when the doc comes in the room to introduce him/her self. Just a basic cleaning doesn’t require and Novocain or gas. Just tell them.
Absolutely! I actually had to have a procedure done during pregnancy that required novocaine and was cleared by both my dentist and my OB.
As someone mentioned, just make sure you tell your dentist you’re pregnant so you can avoid any unnecessary radiation.
Be prepared though, you may or may not have painless bleeding of the gums during your cleaning. It’s nothing to be worried about, it’s just because of your increase in blood volume during pregnancy.
yes it is best to have your teeth cleaned a few times in pregnancy as it is common to get bad gums as a symptom, congrats by the way and take care xx
I went when I was about 15 weeks (as soon as my morning sickness was gone!) and they said it was actually a good time for a cleaning. I forget exactly why but I think you’re more prone to gum disease while pregnant.
When you book you’re appt. let them know you’re pregnant and remind the dentist and hygienist. The hygienist even gave me a baby tooth care kit and advice on caring for baby teeth. I don’t know if they will fill cavities but I had some wisdom teeth that need to be pulled (not bugging me) and he advised to wait.
