sticking out and the next step would be to see my dentist to get the crown done in 10 weeks time. However after the surgery, he told me that for cosmetic reasons, he would let the gum heal over the screws, then he would place the post (I guess he means the part that would be sticking out, meaning of cos another round of local anesthesia) in a few weeks time.

My questions are: Is that the normal procedure? How long is it usually before the crowning is done?
I would still have return to him, "under his mercy" so to speak, that’s why I didn’t want to antagonise him by appearing fussy.
I just found out that the caps he used to screw over the implants are really small ones so that the gun can heal over it. He would be taking them out to screw on the actual ones (those that should stick out) in 2 mths.

My smile is somewhat gummy and it has always bothered me. I would really like to have my gums reduced and I’m just wondering how much it costs. Thanks for your help!
It is only for cosmetic reasons and my teeth are perfectly striaght. My dentist has referred me to peridontist and I have a consultation set up but I’m just wondering an idea of cost before I get too excited about it. SInce it is cosmetic my insurance wont be covering it.

I want to get dental braces and I’ve already asked the on-base dentist office if they would give them to me. The dentist said that the military won’t do it for cosmetic reasons only for if your teeth are actually hurting/harming you. So I decided to just go ahead and pay for them myself at a civilian dentist office. I’ve been asking everyone in my squadron if I have to get permission from somebody first (because you are non-deployable if you have braces on) and nobody seems to know the answer. Does anyone on here in the Air Force know if I can just go to a civilian dentist and get the braces myself without any repercussions from the Air Force?

What kind of dental bite do I have?

This is for cosmetic reasons only. I was wondering what kind of dental bite I have? I’ve had braces before as you can tell my teeth are straight. But I want a more aesthetic dental bite but who would I go to for that?

Here are pictures of my dental bite:

1- Wisdom teeth being removed…
2- Root canal…
3- A crown…
4- Fill spaces between your teeth with a similar product used for fillings…

I have a feeling I’m going to need the top 3 done in the near future plus a filling (had those before and I can handle the pain) The 4th one, I’m considering doing for cosmetic reasons and it’s the least inexpensive way according to my dentist.

I am in the planning stages of the dental implant process and I will need some grants or funding of some kind in order to complete the process. I have found a couple sources that I am applying to and feel that the more I have to apply to will increase my chances of getting chosen for the grants. I’m not looking for pro bono, nor do I want to go to a dental college because I live in rural Montana and traveling to a college would not work too well on my limited budget. I have found a implant specialist here in state who I’m working with to get the surgery planned. I’m hoping there are sources out there that I can apply to in order to get this done. This is not being done for cosmetic reasons but for health reasons. Thanks for any information you can share with me.

Dental Crowns for cosmetic purposes?

I recently asked my dentist about alternatives to braces for fixing a gap in my front teeth, and I also do have two chipped teeth just to the side of them.

I was hoping that he would suggest a couple veneers but due to the size of the gap and the fact my front two teeth are a little large as it is he said this wouldn’t be an option and that he could easily fix everything by crowning my front 6 teeth.

This is a little more than i was expecting. One tooth is chipped pretty bad and something does need to be done with that, but the other 5 teeth are healthy just unattractive.

Is it common to use multiple crowns just for cosmetic reasons?
