Hi, I already graduated from a local community college in orlando with my AA but want to goto school to be a dietitian. I looked online on the associations website and only school listed is in Miami…are there any schools in Orlando or any online programs that would count toward the coursework at least? Unfortunately due to some family issues I can’t leave the Orlando area but want to continue my education. Any help is appriciated! Thank you

Hi. I have a BS in Computer Science, but I’m pretty much lost as to where I want to take my degree.

My local community college offers continuing education courses on Web&Multimedia, Graphic Design, CISCO, etc etc…

Do you think its a good idea to get into some of those to explore stuff and are they useful?

or with my bachelor’s nothing else matters? If I finish for example my coursework in CISCO, would that give me more opportunity to look for a job at Cisco… or would it be useless?

I’m having a lot of trouble finding jobs because I don’t have much experience and my education is too broad and I don’t know anything too well in specific. I just know a little bit of everything.

So would continuing education help? or is it stupid to go after having a BS, is it a waste of money? or should I just learn these stuff on myself from library books/internet/whatever?

I would gladly appreciate all of your advice. Thanks :)

Given that medical schools and dental schools are GPA whores, will they show leniency towards a student majoring in a more difficult field such as engineering? The average GPA of admitted students are very high and the admission board say they take into account the kind of coursework but to what extent can this overshadow a lower than "medical/dental GPA"?

I went to college for one year after high school and had to drop out due to severe medical problems. I then continued at an online school for about 1 1/2 years and have not taken coursework since. This is because I don’t know what field I’ll end up in and find it more sensible to find what I want to do first, get an entry level job, and THEN get my degree (I have to pay for my own schooling and can’t afford any changes in majors once I get going). I’m only 23 and have 5 solid years of experience in the marketing/advertising/event planning fields. I am making a one page resume in Photoshop with some bold colors and graphics since I’m applying to media marketing companies- there’s barely enough space for my work experience as it is; is it appropriate to list my education as "in progress" or should I leave it out?
*sigh* i knew people would comment on the graphics part. i only put that so you could get an idea of the image i’m going for. i’m applying for jobs in places where creativity is held high… anyone in the advertising/meida/design fields will tell you that it’s an accepted practice for resumes to be considerably less conventional… my question is about the education :)

Many high schools have AP programs and such that offer college credit, or they make deals with local colleges and offer classes at them and give credit for it. However, what I’m wondering is if there are any colleges or universities that offer courses to high school students that are "independent" from the high school you are attending. I hope you understand what I mean. I understand they’d still want to know grades and stuff probably, but I’m an advanced student, looking for possibilities for college. I would love to get college classes or credits or even just the work, but even though my school has AP programs and deals with local colleges, I would love to be able to sign up for a separate course. I don’t need high school in addition to any college credit. Just a college course or two I could do even though I’m in high school still. I’m in the St. Louis area (MO), but are there any online courses? I’ve read several articles on this, but none were specific. They mentioned students in one or two systems doing online coursework, or just talking about a general increase in high school students doing college work. Mentions of what I’m talking about, but no real results as to options.

Hope that made sense, and thanks. I’m very serious about college. I was going to go to an early-entrance college (live in high school type deal) but I moved and was unable to do that, so now I’m looking into other options for getting as much college experience and courses and credits as I can.

I am 32, and looking to gain more knowledge in the Construction Estimation arena. I just want to attain some online courses / certificates to boost my resume. Not looking for a 2 or 4 year degree but some online coursework or classes.
