Because of "diploma mills" where people paid a fee to receive a certificate of questionable worth, the U.S. military used to consider an online high school diploma to be a Tier II diploma unacceptable for enlistment. Cyber charter schools now operate in many states and offer a free public education online in grades K-12 for state residents. These are real schools and they confer real high school diplomas under the authority of the department of education in each state, including our school in Pennsylvania. Yet some military recruiters continue to turn away candidates for enlistment who are graduates of these cyber charter schools. I could cite a number of graduates of my school, PA Cyber, who are going on to enlist in the services. We even have some who have won appointments to the USAF Academy (twin brothers who currently rank in the top 5% of their class) and the US. Coast Guard Academy (graduated and currently an ensign on a Coast Guard cutter in the Indian Ocean). How do I reach all those recruiters to dispel the myth that a cyber diploma is second-rate?

Why is the Navy so Misleading on their website?

http://www.navy.com/benefits/education/pursuedegree/

"Tuition Assistance: Pays for up to 100 percent of the tuition for courses taken by Sailors on their own time (off-duty) at accredited institutions."

This is what the Navy Tuition Website says..
https://www.navycollege.navy.mil/tuition/ta2.html

"All Navy Tuition Assistance pays up-front the tuition and fees charged by educational institutions for course enrollments. Navy TA pays 100% of tuition costs for courses applicable to the completion of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. For other education levels, there is a fiscal year credit limit of 16 Semester Hours, 24 Quarter Hours, 240 Clock Hours or 24 CEUs per individual. (Waiver requests cannot exceed the FY 00 DoD program limit.)

Payment for tuition and fees will not exceed the following caps:
0.00 per semester hour
6.67 per quarter hour
.67 per clock hour
6.67 per Continuing Education Unit (CEU)"
At 16 units per year, it will take four years to complete an assoiciates degree. If you are on shore duty, trying to complete your degree in a three year tour, much of it will come out of the sailor’s own pocket.

I am 18 years old and currently in 11th grade, due to some past mishaps I may have to halt my education and drop out of school but regardless, I would like to continue my learning and go to college or the National Guard but because I will not have a high school diploma I can do neither. I do not want a GED but I would like to know if there are other alternatives to gain a high school diploma in a short period of time such as a good online school.

I have high school diploma (so I graduated from HS) and from a community college I received 2 associate degrees AS and AA majoring really wide-range courses so there is really no particular concentration. I never took a typing course but I can say my typing is fast and accurate.

What is/are the way(s) to have high probability to get hired as a general office clerk or any other basic job working in an office while I’m now out of money to continue my college education?

Online College education after Military?

Does the military pay for online college courses? If so, what are some good colleges that offer courses online? I’d like to be a cop after I leave the military, what should I major in and what type of degree should I get? (I don’t know much about college) I have a GED, not a high school diploma.

Hello:)
I am going to graduate in June and have to start looking for schools now! I am interested in Public Relations, Web Design, Graphic Design and well.. just all sorts of things. I came across the NYU website and was reading all of the different things that they offered in the "Continuing Education" section. I was originally planning to go for a Bachelors Degree in Writing or something but after speaking with family and others I decided that I didn’t want to limit myself and would take a few certificate programs that I thought would work well together. Now for my questions!..

The continuing education programs offered in NYU. Do you need to have previous training of some sort? Or a degree or just something other than a High School Diploma? Also, do you receive a certificate at the completion of the courses you selected? For example, I was viewing a page on Public Relations. It has many things to choose but you have to take "two required courses" "1 PR writing course" and "2 electives." and for just those 5 things alone it said "Build My Certificate" and brought you to the following page which showed schedules and things.. Is that ALL you need to get a certificate? It seems almost too good to be true!

Has anyone taken courses in the Continuing Education program? Can you provide feedback on your experience?

Lastly, is it quite difficult to get into these programs since its NYU?

I will probably call the school within the next few weeks but I just wondered if anyone on here could help me out. :) Thanks ahead.
