How much will my braces cost?

I went to the orthodontist today and i told him that I was very unhappy with my teeth and he told me that I need to have braces for up to a year but if I took good care of them then I wouldn’t need them on long. I have delta dental insurance and they cover 1500.00 of my braces. The orthodontist said that it was a very minor and easy fix but I am getting prices like 3000.00 something I didn’t want to hear. I won’t exactly know how much they will cost until my insurance company gets back with them but I am impatient and I want to know how much they will cost. Will someone please help me out????

I saw a dentist in 2004. I had dental insurance and provided this information to the dental office. I never heard anything after that but changed dentists due to location.
I get a copy of my credit report last month and see there is a collection for this dentists office. I contact them direct and was told my insurance denied the claim. My coverage was active at the time of service conducted.
I called the insurance carrier and was told the dental office NEVER even submitted the claim to them. So, the dental office is going to submit the claim to the insurance now but says they still can charge me the fee that it cost them to turn it over to the collection agency.
i dont feel this is right because the fee would never had to happen if the dental office had submitted the claim like they were supposed to. I was referred to this dental office by the insurance company’s website so I know they accepted the insurance.
Is this a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act somehow?

Dentists/dental assistants- insurance help?

Hello, I am a medical assistant and I know all about navigating through loop holes in medical insurance. However, I am clueless when it comes to dental insurance, although I figure they must be similar.
Anyway, my question is this: Does anyone know how to get around an insurance company to get dental implants covered? I was born with 5 missing adult teeth (the adult teeth just never grew in after I lost my baby teeth). One of my bottom front teeth went unnoticed and is now a lost cause. However, 4 of my molars have been gone since they were surgically removed in 2001 (the bottom two were fused to my jaw and the top two were dead but stuck between two adjacent teeth). I have had to wear retainers since 2001 to keep the spaces between my teeth until I could get implants. When I went for a consult a couple years ago, my insurance told me they would not cover any of it, as it was considered "cosmetic." Now, I am about to receive dental insurance again, and want to know what I can do/say to get this covered; I cannot wear retainers my whole life, bridges are out of the question, and if I don’t get this taken care of, I have been told my teeth will "fall in, then fall out."

Help!

Serious, I used to think that insurance companies are the caused of driving up the health care cost because I keep seeing higher premiums in my coverage. But now I have learned that the freaking doctors/dentists/optometrists are the ones squeezing our necks for money without we even knowing. Here are examples: I got my 2 wisdom teeth taken out 1.5 years ago, and the dentist charged my insurance 00 (00 each) and I paid deductible. Two months ago, my gf had 2 wisdom teeth taken out too, but she doesn’t have dental coverage, she paid by check, and the dentist charges her 0 each, total of 00. I was like… wth… and the dentist told us that because we dont have insurance, they’ll charge us less….This all makes sense now, since if they charges us 00 each tooth, how the hell can we pay it out from pocket, only the insurance companycan. So basically, the doctorswill be very happy to see if you have insurance coverage. How do I report to insurance company on this?
i made a typo, it should be ,800, not ,800.
"Don’t be too quick to complain…

Your girlfriend probably got a ‘courtesy discount’ because she doesn’t have insurance… we do that, too."

Exactly! If you can just charge the same amount to insurance company, the cost wouldn’t be so high. Usually insurance benefits state that they will pay after deductible, or about 80% coinssurance (you pay 20%). So doing the math, the main factor driven up the cost is the doctors/dentists charging too much. They already gained profit from charging lower amount in cash, yet, making it triple in charging the insurance.

Is this considered dental fraud?

I recieved a check in the mail from Delta Dental (ppo) for the amount of 1500.00 and I deposited this check into my bank account and spent the funds. I deposited this check with the assumption that it was an overpayment from the insurance company because this has happened a couple of times before. Any way, I called in today to get my receiept for my FSA payment (monthly payments) and they asked me for the check, I was shocked when they told me this and then I realized that the check was supposed to go to them. They are now saying that I committed insurance fraud. Is this true? I am in no way denying that I owe the amount, I just dont have the funds to make this happen right away. Not to mention most of the work that they are billing me for hasnt even been done yet. (started root canal and was supposed to restructure and crown it but havent restructured or crowned it yet)
I want to make this very clear, I would not make this dentist jump through hoops, he has been my dentist for going on 4 years now, there has been 2 instances prior that he has overbilled me and my insurance paid me checks (for overages)… that is what I meant by overpayment. I feel extremely horrible about this and by no means do I intend to sway my responsibilites of the financial obligation.

do I have a dental malpractice case?

I went to the dentist to a general check up. Dentist told me that I have a couple of small cavities in my left wisdom teeth. Ultimately, she suggested that they fill the cavities. The initial shuts for the procedure felt truly painful and abnormal. But, dentist told me that it is normal when procedure is done for wisdom tooth. Additionally, during the procedure dentist and her assistant were consistently tried to open my mouse bigger and bigger. After the procedure was done doctor told me that I will feel pain and discomfort for the next several days. Ten days later, I still could only open my mouth about 1.5 fingers, left side of my face is still hurting, my left ear and left side of my neck is hurting as well. I feel that my teeth do not align the same way they did before the procedure. I have called the dentist and they invited me to stop by the office. In office dentist told me that complications resulted from procedure because my mouth was open too big. She told me that I have to see TMJ specialist. However, they could not refer me to anyone. Instead they gave me a sticky note with the phone number to some dental school that might be able to recommend me to someone. I asked who is going to pay for the medical treatments and they said that I need to contact my insurance company and discuss this matter with them. I opposed, stating that complications arised from the procedure. They said that it is not the case. I asked to invite the doctor, they refused. Additionally, I requested my dental records (copies), on which they refused as well. Meanwhile, I have contacted my general doctor and waiting for the referral to a specialist. I truly feel that this dental office should be responsible for their negligence. I am not sure what my exact diagnose but my symptoms are very disturbing.
