Why, as a single mom on disability, should I have to take my daugher to a dental school to have specialty work done on her teeth and gums. She has a rare genetic disorder, this is not cosmetic surgery. But no dentist that accepts medicaid will work on her and why should I really trust a student in a dental school to help her when established dentists wont even perform the work that desperately needs to be done. Aren’t there any reputable dentists that will do pro bono work? I’m tired of hearing about things that are being done in other countries, what about our children in America. Why should my child suffer because I have a limited income due to disability. Just for the record, the dentist who did accept medicaid and saw my daughter was neglectful and didn’t know what he was doing, now my daughter has an abscess and a fistula, that all could have been prevented if the dentist knew what he was doing. Anyone know of any reputable dentist that would do pro bono work on my daughter

I have a 6 month old Shih Tzu and am starting to brush her teeth every night. Obviously this will help keep her teeth and gums healthy. However, it just doesn’t seem like I am getting her teeth too well. It seems like it would help her gumline more. Do you brush your dogs teeth? Does it really make a big difference in terms of having to get the teeth professionally cleaned? Thanks!
For example, instead of getting their teeth cleaned every year, would you only have to do it every three years? What is the difference in terms of time?

I am pretty sure I have periodontal disease. I read that dental scaling and root planing can reverse it and help the gums reattach to the teeth. Has anyone had this done? How well did it work and how bad was your teeth and gums before? Did it hurt much?
I don’t think mines real bad right now. My gums have receded alot but my teeth are not loose. I’m currently trying to find a good dentist for my check up. I’m just scared cuz I’ve had a few bad dentists before.
I read last resort is surgery…..don’t wanna go through that.

I can’t go to the dentist because my family had to forego my insurance because of financial problems. What can I do to treat this at home? Anything in addition to brushing, flossing, and mouthwash?
Oh sorry, well my symptoms are all the symptoms of gingivitis plus a hole in each corner of my mouth between my teeth and gums.. I didn’t know what these were until the second one showed up and opened very quickly.

My teeth are yellow from smoking and drinkng coffee. I have never used a tooth whitener, only whitening toothpaste. I have read alot of different things and im kinda scared to use any. My teeth and gums are kinda sensitive. Any suggestions on a good whitening product that actually whitens and dosn’t make your gums blister

I have read a lot about periodontal disease. I understand it is an advanced stage of gum disease: accumulated plaque on your teeth and gums attacks the gum and the bone.
But plaque can be removed by professional cleaning, and good oral hygiene helps to prevent accumulation of plaque.
So, why is periodontal disease chronic then? Why can it be treated but not cured?
Thanks.

Everytime I have my teeth cleaned, my gums bleed ALOT. I have healthy teeth (I have never even had a cavity), but my mother has Periodontal disease, a type of gum disease that is causing her teeth and gums to become infected and abscessed. Could this be the start of Periodontal disease? Is Periodontal disease genetic?

I feel a continual discomfort on my teeth and gums due to past gum recession. It hurts — how could it be considered cosmetic??
