I’ve been applying for jobs lately online for 2 weeks now. I’ve gotten two fishy emails.
One wanted to do a credit check on me, but in the email, they didn’t list what position I applied for, nor did they list their company name. It was just their first and last name, and then their title, which was "HR Department"
The 2nd one wanted to confirm my phone number, and have me sign up for "continuing education" in order to finish the work application process. I checked the box during applying that I wasn’t interested in information on continuing education. Again like the first one, it didn’t list what position I applied for, nor did they list their company. Just their Name and "HR."
Should I avoid them all together, or should I reply back and ask what company they are affiliated with and for which position I applied for?
I’m worried because if they are scam/fraud, I could be in for some trouble.
Thanks for the reply so far!
I forgot to add that they didn’t list any numbers either. I don’t know how they got all my information unless they had access to the information I sent in with my resume. I applied through hotjobs (yahoo) and careerbuilder.
My resume has all my personal information on it (Full name, address, email, cell number)
I’ve already gotten 10+ calls a day from University of Phoenix alone. e_e
