gum surgery?

i havce braces and really swollen upper gums. it is not due to bad brushing tho, it just happened because of the braces. my orthodontist and dentist said that when i get my braces off i might have to have a surgery to reduce the gum size. has anyone ever had this done? does it hurt much or is it just a simple procedure?

I had something simular done and you know it wasnt so bad, they freeze you up really well and you don’t feel a thing, and they give you pain killers afterwards, you will get through it fine:)
don’t be afraid, it is so simple procedure. actually there is some pain after it but it can be prevented by analgesics .
on the other hand it improve the aesthetic greatly and prevent farther gum inflammation
