This sounds like a Research Methods course in Sociology although the content is also useful for other social science topics. Most courses have both classes, workshops and sometimes also a practice research project that you design and complete yourself.
It will cover a general discussion of the difference between the two major approaches then go into details about how to do both quantitative and qualitative research covering three or four major areas:
-questionning people (structured questionnaires/indepth open ended, oral history or focus group discussions )
-analysing documents ( content analysis/semiotic analysis of media or other documents)
-observation (collecting and analysing data numerically/or participant observation)
-longitudinal studes and case studies
Online research methods courses are well organised and work as well as face to face courses. You will learn not only how to do these different forms of research but also which kinds of research are appropriate for the kind of issues you want to investigate.
You might be asking for different information. If so add a further question for any other advice.
I don’t believe so; qualitative and/or quantitative analysis usually pertains to such courses like "Research" , or "Statistics".
I would suggest looking up the institution online and delving into their "online course schedule"…….then review the course descriptions.
Hope this helps! GOod luck with your classes
